Actovegin Gel Usage and Dosage
Actovegin Gel (20%) is primarily used for wound healing, burns, ulcers, and skin injuries. It is water-based, making it ideal for open wounds and inflamed areas before transitioning to cream or ointment for further healing.
Indications for Use:
Open wounds and ulcers (pressure sores, diabetic ulcers)
Burns (thermal, chemical, or radiation-induced)
Skin graft preparation
Post-radiation therapy skin damage
How to Apply Actovegin Gel:
1. Wound Treatment:
Clean the wound with saline or antiseptic.
Apply a thin layer of gel directly to the affected area.
If needed, cover with a sterile dressing. Reapply 1-2 times per day or as directed by a doctor.
2. Ulcers and Deep Wounds:
Apply a thicker layer of gel.
Cover with a sterile moist gauze dressing soaked in saline.
Change dressing once daily or more if the wound is very moist.
3. Burns & Radiation Injuries:
Apply a thin layer 2-3 times per day.
Duration of Treatment:
Continue until granulation tissue (new skin) forms.
Once healing progresses, switch to Actovegin Cream (5%) for further repair.
Precautions & Side Effects:
Mild burning or itching may occur initially but usually subsides.
If severe redness, swelling, or allergic reaction occurs, stop use and consult a doctor.
Do not apply to infected wounds without medical advice.
