1. Before You Start
– Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
– Choose an injection site: You can inject into the abdomen (at least 2 inches away from the navel), thigh, or upper arm. Rotate injection sites each week.
– Clean the area: Use an alcohol wipe to clean the chosen area, and let it dry.

2. Prepare the Trulicity Skinny Pen
– Remove the cap from the Trulicity Skinny Pen.
– Check the medication: The solution should be clear and colorless. If the solution is discolored or has particles, do not use the pen.

3. Attach the Needle
– Remove the outer needle cap from the pen.
– Attach a new needle by twisting it securely onto the pen.
– Remove the inner needle cap (discard it).

4. Prime the Pen
– Hold the pen with the needle pointing up and press the green button to prime the pen until you see a small drop of solution at the tip of the needle.
– This ensures the pen is ready to use and that no air bubbles are present.

5. Injecting the Medication
– Insert the needle at a 90-degree angle into your skin at the chosen injection site.
– Press the green button to start the injection. Hold the button pressed down for about 5-10 seconds to ensure the full dose is delivered.
– After the injection is complete, remove the needle from your skin and dispose of it in a proper sharps container.

6. After the Injection
– Dispose of the needle immediately in a sharps disposal container.
– Replace the cap on the pen and store it as instructed (in the refrigerator, but not frozen).
– Apply gentle pressure to the injection site with a cotton ball if needed (do not rub).

How Often Should Trulicity Skinny Pen Be Injected?
– Trulicity is injected once a week, on the same day each week, regardless of your meals. It can be injected at any time of day that works best for you.

– Choose a day of the week and inject it on that day consistently
f you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it’s almost time for your next dose. Do not take two doses within 3 days.

Storage Instructions
– Unopened pens should be stored in the refrigerator between 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F).
– Opened pens can be kept at room temperature (up to 30°C/86°F) for up to 14 days.
– Never freeze the pen
Side Effects
– Common side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, and stomach discomfort.
– If you experience severe side effects like severe abdominal pain, vomiting, or signs of an allergic reaction (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing), seek medical attention immediately.
